About Us

Athem Music was founded by Torin and Elizabeth King in 2017 and now provides music to musicians of various genres and instruments.

We publish our original compositions for recorder, harp, recorder ensemble, and mixed instrument ensemble. 

Elizabeth’s journey in composition started after Torin’s passing in 2021. What started as a single work in Torin’s honour - The Elf Lord Returns to Aelfheim - rapidly turned into a group, and has continued from there. Elizabeth plays harp, recorders of all sizes, piano and harpsichord, and has previously played violin, flute and saxophone.

Torin was well known in Australia as a performer and composer for harp, lyre and voice, singing in Old Norse and Old English as well as modern English and Irish! His musical career started however as a heavy metal drummer, before moving towards the music of the ancestors and the Fae. He was also a noted luthier who built traditional Anglo Saxon lyres. Athem Music was the beginning of his musical journey in the UK. I am proud to take it forward for both of us and see his vision become a reality.
